3D Printer

New Members

Please get an introduction from one of the existing members before using the printer.

Responsible Persons

Requirements

  • Must be a c-lab member
  • Wants to print regularly
  • Will take care of maintenance
  • Prints for other members when needed
  • Regularly at c-base

Private Prints

Station projects always take priority!

Costs

  • 0.03€/g (PLA, PETG)
  • 0.01€/g (own filament)

Round up to the next euro.

Slicer

Before Printing

  1. Check the waste container, empty if necessary
  2. If filament has been inserted, place a filament swatch in the holder to indicate which filament is in which AMS slot
  3. Ensure all parts are in proper condition
  4. Select the appropriate build plate for the material and workpiece

Start

  1. Matrix Message:
    • Who
    • What
    • Until when
    • If necessary, material (for ABS, ASA, etc. due to VOCs)
  2. Note on the printer:
    • Same as the Matrix message
  3. For materials with VOC emissions:
    • Open window
    • Send message to the c-lab mailing list
  4. Check the first layer

TODO: Automate matrix message via MQTT?

During Printing

  • For long, complex print jobs, regularly check the print status (every $x hours)

After Printing

  • Ensure the nozzle is free of residue
  • Clean the print bed and place it back properly
  • If own filament was used, store it in personal boxes or take it with you
  • If something was consumed or damaged, it must be reported in the internal channel
  • If the printer is no longer in use, turn off the switch; otherwise, it should be turned off during shutdown

General Rules

  • Station projects always take priority.
  • Private filament may only be stored in member boxes at the c-lab.
  • BambuLab filaments are preferred.
  • Glue sticks should not be used, except on personal plates.
  • Avoid ABS, ASA, etc. until we have ventilation or air filtration.
  • Do not use the Smooth Build-Plate for PETG.
  • Unlabeled filament becomes part of the c-base stock.
  • Knowledge exchange should take place in the public channel.
  • The internal channel is for coordination and voting purposes only.

3D Printing Matrix Group

Membership in the 3D Printing Group

  • All members have read, understood, and agreed to these rules (this page)
  • Members must be part of the internal 3D printing Matrix channel

Printer PIN

  • All members receive the printer PIN
    • The PIN must not be shared
  • The PIN is rotated regularly and posted in the Matrix channel

Maintenance

The group …

  • Purchases new filament for c-base projects
  • Buys missing materials (spare parts, build plates)
  • Prints filament swatches if not yet available

Voting

  • In the Matrix channel
  • 1-week duration
  • All members must vote
  • Repeated failure to vote may result in exclusion

Admission

Max 1 per week

  • Simple majority

  • Simple majority

Exclusion

Violations of self-imposed rules and gross negligence lead to exclusion

  • 2/3 majority
