Room usage plans ==== * Podcasting (Voice / Video) * Lightboard Recordings (Voice / Video) * Music Recording (Instruments / Voice / Video) * Mastering * Modularsynthesebetrieb * Akkustische Experimente mit Eigenbauinstrumenten * Abrocken ohne dass wer genervt ist!! ====== Room Setup ====== We have two rooms, divided by a accoustically dampened, windowed, double stone wall that has a double door. The rooms have no outside windows and are accessible via entry in the Weltenbaulab. There is space for around 5 (convenient) to 10 (stressful) people, we have some lendable chairs in the Weltenbaulab. The recording room sports some basic (not altogether inefficient) dampening measures, nothing sofisticated, though. === Equipment === We have the following studio equipment ready: * two Mackie HS-8 Studio Monitors * A Behringer WING Rack Digital Mixer as mixer and recording interface this is located at the Recording Desk. In the opposite, we have also an iMAC with bitwig studio. If you bring your own device, we have a USB-C Port Replicator to connect with the Desktop. For this you'll need some Software and drivers: Behringer Wing software & Drivers ===== using the soundlab ===== ==== for mixing in the recording room ==== to use the speakers of the soundlab in the recording room, you need to follow these steps: - switch on the mixer at the Desk - the large Desk power plug and starts the Behringer WING Rack. - at the other room, switch on the shelv power plug at the left back side of the shelv this turns on the Mixing Computer, the lights and the other power plugs on the floor. - if the Behringer WING Rack and the Mixing Computer are ready, you can switch on the Speakers on the back side. ==== for mixing in the mixing room ==== to use the speakers of the soundlab in the mixing room, you need to follow these steps: - switch on the mixer at the Desk - the large Desk power plug and starts the Behringer WING Rack. - then connect the your hardware, or turn on the PC or whatever. - if the Behringer WING Rack is ready, you can switch on the two Mackie HS-8 Studio Monitors on the front side. **for switching all off in both scenarios, shutdown the computers and go the list backwards** ==== the shelv ==== The shelv contains the Mixing Computer, some cables microphones and other useful things. ==== for recording (both rooms) ==== === using the Behringer WING for recording === ==== using the mixer app "WING Edit" ==== the software and drivers are linked here. in the following steps you learn how to use the WING mixer in both rooms. * if everything is swiched on you can see the channels on the screen, if not, you can switch to "1-16" and "home" on the left side of the app. * on the right side there is the view for the busses. by default you should be in the main mix, if not look on the list, which bus layer is highlighted and click on it. adittionally you canb see it, when the fader sections have a coloured frame. * for having sound in the recording room, you have to the layer "active speakers(the UI change the color, i think green) * then you can make a mix to the speakers, if you want to switch on a microphone, you choose the channel (atm 9 & 11), put the fader to lowest position to avoid feedback and click on the "on" button and raise the fader slowly to the preferred volume There is tons of other (partially private) Equipment like Keyboards, Guitars, a Drumkit, Controllers, analog and digital modules, etc. ---- ====== Details: Regarding the walls ====== The outer (white) walls may NEVER ever be damaged. Drilling or nailing them is completely out of the question. Anyone doing so, risks Poseidons wrath. You don't want that. * How to mount stuff in the ceiling (steel bars have SOME holes)?? Questions answered by Trocknungsfirma: * We can use any mineral paint on the new walls. * Ventilation: mhm, wie Grenouille schon gesagt hat, wenns drinnen wärmer is als draussen -> LÜFTEN, sonst nich. ===== !!! sewage pipe in the winter !!! ===== in the winter, the sewage pipe is getting cold and water condenses on it. it's important to keep the dripping line clear from electricity. ---- ===== current room setup ===== ==== some future concepts
